HP Pavilion 15 Gaming Laptop Review

Hi there,
Welcome to Techno Beyond. Today we are going to take the review of gaming laptop HP Pavilion 15. We are going to check does it worth for your bucks and what new changes are made by HP compare to its older variant. It turns out to be a pretty good machine for its price. This year the pavilion drew a lot of curiosities because last year's model was pretty disappointing. Let’s find out so let’s get started.

  • Specs:

The i7 10750H is a very powerful CPU. Possibly the most powerful consumer CPU on the market right now. its single clock speed could theoretically go up to 5 gigahertz. With this particular machine it can only go up to 4.7 gigahertz but that is plenty powerful. With the power of the i7 10750h on this machine we can edit videos then do motions with after effect it feels much better than on its predecessor.

  • Design:

This year's pavilion is also very cool. HP still keeps the same zigzag shampoo theme. The shape is seen in the advance the hinge the top lid and the bottom especially at the speakers it's like a series of connected 3d hexagons. It looks really cool when lights shine on it.

  • Hinge:

It’s really weak on last year machine. This year it feels much better supported. it still wobbles quite a bit but it feels more reliable at least it can hold the screen still at some pretty low angles not free falling like last year.

  •  Material:

The whole thing is made of plastic but similar to last year's model HP's finishing quality is very well done feels nice and sturdy. It has a matte surface. Very smooth and nice on the touch.

  •  Display:

Unfortunately we don't have the 144 Hz screen but that option is available if you want to upgrade. With the 60 Hz full HD IPS panel it's usable but everything is expectedly mediocre. It’s not a premium IPS panel. Colour accuracy and gamut’s are not great and it doesn't get very bright at a maximum of only 216 nits so you should just keep this indoors.

  • In general purpose:

If your main purpose is just to game and do normal work then the core i5 10300h should be sufficient. If you want to both game and do specialized work like graphics modelling animations and stuff then the new generation i7 CPU will bring significant performance. Gains there's two more cores and clock speeds are also higher 6 scores 12 threads will be a necessary thing when you have a few intensive applications running at the same time.

  • Temperatures:

The temperatures pretty cool. That is because HP has played it pretty safe here. Reducing the power consumption of both the CPU and the GPU. The CPU consumes roughly over 25 watts while the GTX 1650 eats up to 40 watts.
When power consumption is limited performance is dropped by about 5 to 10 percent when gaming but in return you get nice and cool temperatures. The GPU doesn't even get to 70 degrees Celsius and the CPU almost never gets over 80 degrees.

  •  Keyboard:

Typing feel is another unique experience. This keyboard is great for both gaming and typing. It’s great for gaming because it's super responsive and doesn't require much force so your fingers can serve on it and switch between keys very comfortably.
Typing is also great because of the long travel and good tactile feedback. If you want a game and also need to type a lot then this is a great choice. It also has a numpad if you need one and it's a spacious one too.

  •  Touchpad:

We never use it because of the poor build. It sinks down a lot and the click force is also uneven. The surface feels okay.

  • Speakers:

The luxon speaker produces acceptable sound quality. Volume is pretty good but lacking in bass and separations.

  • Ports:

Ports are a plus in this machine. you have an SD card slot and USB type c that supports extracting images, Ethernet port, HDMI and three USB a’s.

  • Upgradability:

You have a pretty standard upgradability for a gaming laptop one m2 SSD slot, 2 ram slots and one 2.5 inch hard drive slot.

  • Battery:

The 52 watt hour battery lasts about four and a half to five hours of normal use which is pretty good for a gaming laptop like this.

  • Cooling:

This year for the Intel’s version at least HP has completely redesigned the cooling system. Two huge vents behind they're not only big and open they also look very cool very gaming like. Space in the middle it's almost multi-dimensional. This year model is also a lot bigger than last year's which is of course a good thing for cooling. This is only for the Intel model though as the AMD model has a pretty different design.
This one doesn't have a dedicated app for adjusting the fan speeds. With current performance and cooling we find it to be around the same with other gaming laptops

  • My opinion:

Many people might not be a fan of this design because it doesn't scream gaming but it's also not exactly sleek either. It’s a bit in between but i feel that this used model has brought a lot of improvements while still maintaining advantages like a better build quality than similarly priced competitors good keyboard and sufficient performance for gaming.
As for the design while we agree that this design doesn't have a super strong. In design language so like any other budget laptop it will have to choose in the things that you want to do well and sacrifice in others.
